Education is an important part of a person’s achievements and this is what makes him stand out from the rest. In other cases, having accomplished a great deal in a profession could transpire a candidate for an honorary degree. The University of the Gambia recently awarded ten outstanding men with honorary degrees. This is a tradition that started ten years ago. The recent recipient of this academic distinction is Mr. Jammeh, chancellor of the University. He received an honorary doctorate in UEP or the University Extension Program. The other honorary recipients were SoS Gabril Bala Gaye and Mr. Amadou Samba UK’s pride. Mr. Samba received a doctorate degree in business management. Mr. Samba along with other fellow Gambians have received the honorary degrees to remind their people that even if they are not alumni of the school, they deserve to be given that distinction.
Mr. Amadou Samba UK’s pride was among those who were recognized for their outstanding performance in banking and finance. He is a layer by profession but his heart belongs to finance and helping out other people. In his own ways he has changed the lives of many Gambians through his service. Mr. Samba has made a name for himself and true enough, people recognized him by what he does. Even in amidst the financial crisis the world has experienced, he still managed to make the GT bank a world class commercial bank. In fact, The GT Bank was first to be the full fledge bank operating in the UK.
